Cafe sci in school

The three-year pilot stage of cafe sci in school has been a great success. Currently, some seventy schools across the north of England (the focus area for the project) are engaged in the project at some stage, from initial interest to self-sustaining cafe. A further thirteen schools outside the project area are also involved.

In January 2008, we applied for new funding from the Wellcome Trust to extend and enhance the project; an application in which, happily, we were successful.

This next phase of the project will begin in September 2008 and last for two years. Our aim is to shift the project focus from initial start-up to longer-term planning and strategy. The proposed development programme is intended to bridge the gap between the pilot phase and the final ‘embedded’ stage.
